A brief background of the character:
Marche Radiuju is the main protagonist of the game, at first a subdued (but rather oblivious at times) transfer student with a strong sense of justice and later on the assertive leader of a notorious clan with a bounty on his head since his main mission is to destroy the world. Sounds odd? Good. Because he really is a rather odd boy.

Basically, the game story is this: Marche and his brother, Doned, along with his friends, Mewt and Ritz, are pulled into a dream world created after they read an ancient magical book. This world is called Ivalice, named after their town of St. Ivalice. (Note: The world is modeled after the kids’ favorite game, Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XII in particular. Therefore Marche will recognize Final Fantasy characters created before and during XII’s release.)

In this world of Ivalice, every one of the kids’ dreams comes true. For Marche in particular, he becomes a leader of a soon-influential clan and gets the attention he never got from either of his divorced parents. But, he is by nature a clear thinker, and soon realizes all he and the others are doing is escaping reality by indulging their dreams.

And so he goes to destroy the crystals (all housing Totema which keep the world the way it is), which would allow him to destroy Ivalice to return it to its original form as St. Ivalice. Nearly everyone doesn’t want this to happen, so Marche ends up having to be enemies to his friends, brother, and even himself to some extent while he destroy more and more crystals. During this, he ends up making allies of some people who used to be enemies.

Also while he’s destroying the crystals, Mewt, who is now the prince, puts a bounty on his head. Why? He, like everyone else, likes it better here. Here, his mom, Remedi, is alive, and his dad, Cid, is respectable, not some drunkard who lost hope after his wife’s death. But his mom is not all she seems. That’s because she’s not really his mom. She’s, dun dun dun, the last boss. GASP. Who didn’t see that coming?

So anyways, Marche defeats Remedi, who is actually the Li-Grim, and makes some cheesy speech that finally convinces Mewt, whose dream this world is, to go back home. And so everyone goes back home. And they all lived happily ever after. The end. (Until he suddenly wakes up in the streets of Twilight Town right when he is supposed to return to Ivalice) And that’s end of the really, really bare bones version of the story. I didn’t even mention quite a few of the more important secondary characters. XD

And one more thing: Was Marche really acting for the greater good when he decided to try to change Ivalice back?
